Set at the foot of the Hunters Hills, with the legendary white horse towering above the grounds, our historic showgrounds hosted its first A&P Show back in 1881.
The Southern Canterbury A&P Association was amalgamated in 2011, bringing together the former Timaru and Waimate A&P Associations.
Venue Hire
The modern, multipurpose A&P Shears Pavilion seats up to 250, yarding for 460 horses—and with 20 hectares of grounds available to hire, there are plenty of options.
As Waimate’s premier indoor event venue, it’s hosted everything from weddings and balls to seminars and more. Facilities include a commercial kitchen and dining room, bar and outdoor area, toilets and showers, public address/sound system, first aid room, and office.
